Direct answer: 2026 local-search guides now sell Google Business Profile as the feed for AI answers, not only the Map Pack. On October 2, 2026 we pulled titles and URLs only. No full-page scrapes. No invented click rates. Three piles showed up together: local SEO playbooks for small businesses, full GEO "get cited by AI" guides, and a third stack that ties GBP posts and reviews to Google AI Overviews, Gemini, and AI Mode. For a Mauldin HVAC tech or a Greer painter, the weekly work still wins: posts, job photos, and review asks after finished jobs.
Local SEO is still its own small-business aisle. Same-day titles included:
GEO still sells as "get cited by AI." Titles on that pull included Meev on AI visibility for local businesses, Orkkid's complete 2026 GEO guide, Market Disruptors' GEO guide, ClickRank's "What is GEO?", and L3ad Solutions' Get Cited by AI pillar.
The third pile is GBP as the AI feed. Linked titles framed the listing as the input for Overviews and Gemini:
Titles only. The shelf shape is the point: operators are selling the listing as posts, reviews, and photos Google can quote.
If you run pressure washing in Simpsonville or landscaping out of Travelers Rest, you do not need a separate Gemini project. You need a living listing that matches the site.
Do this weekly:
That is Care in plain English. Weekly posts plus review cadence. Not another dashboard.
| Do this | Skip this for now |
|---|---|
| Weekly GBP post + review ask | Extra AI tools on a quiet listing |
| Service pages that name Greer, Mauldin, Fountain Inn | Vague "serving the Upstate" copy |
| Sticky click-to-call and a form that hits a real phone | Waiting on a full redesign while the listing is stale |
Local note: a Greenville-area trade does not lose the next job because the homepage lacks a design-award hero. They lose it when the Google listing is quiet, the number is wrong, and the competitor with a plain page answers first.
We keep one productized offer on purpose. Site defaults set on day one, then a short weekly Care schedule instead of a custom GEO project:
Local price check (not a national average): Saluda Digital's pricing page has listed about $1,750 to build and $550–$725/mo for maps work (same public bands we logged August 30 and again October 1, 2026). Useful anchor. Not a claim about every Greenville shop.
If you have no site, or a ©2016 footer, fix the site first. AI answers will not invent a trustworthy page for you. If the site is already solid, the next gap is usually the weekly listing and review work those 2026 guides assume you already do.
October 2's shelf still sells full local-SEO playbooks and full GEO guides. It also sells GBP as the feed for AI Overviews and Gemini. Greenville shops win the same way: clean service pages, a living Google profile, steady reviews, and plain answers a model can name. Do the weekly work. Skip the extra tool stack.
